My family comes from Yogyakarta. The food typical of
Yogyakarta is Gudeg, Bapkpia, Yangko, Tiwul, Getuk, Geplak, etc. November last
year I went to yogyakarta with my family. Home of Yogyakarta I bought Bakpia
and Yangko. Food that i most like is Gudeg.
Gudeg has been known by the people
of Indonesia, especially as the typical food from Yogyakarta. Gudeg is a
regional food of Yogyakarta and Central Java which is made from young jackfruit
cooked with coconut milk. It took many hours to make this dish. Brown color is
usually produced by teak leaves are cooked together. Gudeg is eaten with rice
and served with thick coconut milk (white), free-range chicken, eggs, tofu and
sambal goreng krecek. Initially Gudeg known by the people of Indonesia is “Gudeg
Basah”. As time went by, Gudeg to by the also be “Gudeg Kering”. The difference
is, Gudeg Basah just need a little bit of coconut milk. While Gudeg Basah using
more coconut milk.
Until nw this has not yet been
clarified on the history of gudeg. Some views relating gudeg as food from the
Kraton Yogyakarta. While others believe that gudeg has long existed since the
attacking to Batavia in 1726-1728 by Sultan Agung in history, althought it has
not been proven the truth.
My family really like gudeg.
